Cotton Wood Ranch
State Historic Site
In 1982 the State of Kansas purchased approximately twenty-three acres of the original Cottonwood Ranch. Today the Kansas State Historical Society administers the property as one of the state's best preserved historic sites.
Five of the site's original stone buildings have been preserved: the house, wash house, bunkhouse, stable, and shearing shed. Visitors are given an introductory slide program and a tour of the house. A self guided tour brochure provides information about the buildings and other nearby features, such as the springs, historical trail, Fent Pratt's orchard, and Hilda's and Elsie's play area.
